Learning Website
Design
Website design is one of the most critical
elements of a successful website. There are many elements which
must be incorporated into the website
designing. Website design software can make the
process much easier to manage but there are thing that you, as
the designer, must decide for you self. It is commonly accepted
among internet marketers that if you do not capture your
visitors attention within 15 seconds they will leave your
site.
We previously touched on some of the critical web
site design elements in Building Your First
Website. Those were mostly structural
elements that needed to be incorporated into
your website. Most of those can be handled by a
good website design software. We are now going to cover some of
the more scuttle element of designing your website.
Three Important Keys To Web Page
Design
Usability - Design your web page so that it is easy to
read and easy to navigate. Use the same font for all of your
content. Two of the most accepted fonts are, Arial and Verdana.
For your headlines Georgia and Times New Roman. When witting
your content use a white background with black text. Do Not use
a large font unless your site is directly related to sight
impaired visitors.
Colors
can inspire different emotions in
your visitors. Stick to soft colors. Blue is one of the best
colors. As with fonts keep your color consistent through out
your pages and limit the number of color changes among
your pages.
Another part of usability with web page design
is the ease of navigation. Make your pages easy to
navigate. Limit the number of time your visitor needs to
click to find the information they seek. Make sure all
your links work and make them open within your pages so
they do not leave your site. Design your pages so they fit
completely in the browser. You do NOT want your visitor
to have to use the scrollbar to go left or right to see
the page.
Content
- Visitors come to your website
looking for information. Website designing is
important and content is part of designing your website.
Content is king when it come to website designing. Fresh,
original and well composed content is important to the
success of your website. Content directly related to your
keywords. Write content that is grammatically correct.
Write your content as if you were speaking to someone,
because you really are speaking to your visitor.
Keep your paragraphs short,
with a lot of "white space". It make you content
easier to read and easier on your viewers
eyes.
Graphical
Design - Website
design call for a certain amount of graphical design. Do
Not over do it. Your site should have a professional
and attractive design. Remember colors are important. You
are selling yourself on your site. You want a personal
but yet professional look to your site. Another element
to incorporate into web site design is audios and videos.
These two have become powerful elements to website
designing. Seeing or hearing a real person adds
credibility to your
website.
Don't Does of Website
Design - Select the type of banners you
place on your site very carefully. Some visitors see them
as pressure selling. Try to use text links to products
you are promoting. This is not to say don't use banners
but limit their use. No one likes "pop-ups" except
internet marketers. Don't use site counters. No one but
you care how many visitors you get to your site.
Sometimes they can backfire on you if visitors see a low
count and thing no one else is visiting your site. Limit
what are called "frames", they are difficult for the
search engines to read.

Note:
A good website designing software can
be a new marketers best friend. I would like to recommend
you look closely at the website design software from
XSitePro.com.
It is the one software I use and quite frankly I believe
it to be the best software for someone just building
their first website. Its page analysis feature takes the
quest work out of optimization. The link below will take
you to their product information page. Before you buy any
other software give this one a good look. It is about
half the price of the popular Dreamweaver
software.
